Temuera Morrison (Aquaman, Chief of War, The Book of Boba Fett), Frankie Adams (The Expanse, Next Goal Wins), and Roimata Fox (Chief of War, Muru, Cowboy Bebop) are set to light up the screen in the action-comedy, The Wrecking Crew!
In the movie, Morrison, Adams, and Fox are joined by Jason Momoa, Dave Bautista, Morena Baccarin, Jacob Batalon, and Miyavi for a pulse-pounding good time.
The trio are no strangers to action fare, and I had the opportunity to chat with them about their characters in the movie and the importance of representing their Polynesian cultures on a global stage with films like The Wrecking Crew and their countless other projects.

Morrison, Adams, and Fox have very different characters in the film. However, they easily found what they enjoyed portraying about their characters and what they connected with most as Peter, Nani, and Leila, respectively.
“Well, I just think I wasn’t the person that everyone thought I was going to be. I’m supposed to be the good uncle, the supporter of all these, helping them grow up, helping them get a better life, helping them get ahead. And then all of a sudden, there’s a little bit of shadiness about this character. So I really enjoyed that part,” Morrison shared.
When you see the movie, it’s clear that Nani is that friend or relative that will always come to you with facts despite how you might feel or react to it.

“Nani is the is your best friend who lets you know that your toxic boyfriend sucks, and I think we all need a Nani in our lives,” Adams said.
We couldn’t agree more!
As for Fox, being the baby sister of her family, she channelled her older sister to get into character.
Fox said, “I loved to step into Leila’s shoes, because I know being the baby sister of my sibling line, I just had to channel my sister. I think if I tried to Leila-out on my family, they’d just be like, ‘Um, stay in your lane.’ But it was really nice to actually feel that, you know? And, of course, just being around beautiful Maia and Joe, who played Kai and Lani, it was huge for me. And, of course, the boys [Dave and Jason] – Titans!”
While the action in The Wrecking Crew is top-notch, the best part of the movie was bringing cultural representation to a global stage, specifically in an action-comedy like this. Morrison shared that it made him feel very proud and that he’s enjoying more Polynesian stories being told.

“Oh, I just feel very, very proud that, you know, Polynesians are coming to the fore more recently. Especially with the the release of Chief of War, which we’re very proud of as well. And that was a very dynamic, powerful show to be involved with. And then, I think, the acceptance of the language now we, you know? And with this film, particularly, it’s not looking at the Waikiki, you know, we kind of sort of see the the real street side of Hawaii as well, too. So that that’s another nice kind of thing to uncover, as opposed to just, you know, the normal Waikiki and lovely hula hands on Waikiki Beach and all of that. So, yeah, just very, very proud again, to be Polynesian,” Morrison said.
Morrison continued, “And I think, you know, we’re getting to to a place now where we’re getting more Polynesian stories coming out. There’s a lot of Samoan, a lot of Tongan films coming out now, you know? We kind of like the humor side as well. So it’s just an exciting time, I think. We’re getting some great young Polynesian directors out there as well.”
Lastly, Adams and Fox would be down for a Nani and Leila spin-off. So, that’s definitely something we need to make happen! I’m already putting it out into the universe.
